Property - Centralised energy

Background

Rescuing a distressed district heating project for multi-stakeholder development in NW London.

Solution

Design issues and lack of progress on this centralised energy project left this multi-stakeholder development in danger of severe delays and cost overruns.

Asked to step in by main M&E consultants to deliver a complete redesign, and changed the system to modular development.

Following a complete project requirement reappraisal with detailed future development modelling over the projected 50-year life of the system, we were able to develop a solution which met the requirements of all the stakeholders whilst meeting a higher technical specification for no further cost. This included a new multi-unit CHP solution with a more advanced metering, control & monitoring package.

Outcome

The project was developed, installed, commissioned and operating in time to meet occupation dates for the whole of the new mixed development project, avoiding all potential project penalties and cost overruns.

Please note - this case study is one of several that highlights the collective experience of our team, drawing on projects completed prior to the formation of Beaverbrook Energy.
