Why we started

After decades of commercial and industrial experience we saw how energy can be highly frustrating. The industry is good at making things complicated - and not so good at helping companies save costs and reduce carbon emissions.

Consultants advise but don’t implement. Energy brokers do deals and walk away. Equipment providers push their own kit.

Beaverbrook Energy is a new venture to provide a one-stop shop for businesses tackling the energy transition.

We design, deliver and manage practical, tailored energy systems with clear commercial, operational, energy and decarbonisation objectives.

    Max Aitken, Founder & CEO

    Clean energy entrepreneur, serial founder and fundraiser of over £500m. Associated companies include Estover Energy (bioenergy), 3ti Energy Hubs (solar/EV charging), GrowUp (vertical farms), Active Energy Group (bioenergy), and ChargeMaster (now BP Pulse).

  • Jarv Ashford

    Jarv Ashford, CFO

    Finance and operations leader. Strategy and M&A experience at Barings and Close Brothers, followed by operational experience ranging from start-ups to listed international groups.

  • Tony Slade

    Tony Slade, Technical Director

    Energy transition specialist and strategic advisor with 40 years’ experience across the energy industry, ex-head of non-commodity business for a UK Big Six energy supplier and strategic advisor to infrastructure investment banks and global energy brands.

  • Alex Fry

    Alex Fry, Energy Architect

    Renewable energy specialist, with six years experience across multiple roles in energy, including consulting, solar and renewable development, finance, and biomass plant management.

  • Tirdad Sorooshian

    Tirdad coaches management teams at fast-growth start-ups, and was previously global head of Training and Organisational Development at Olivetti. He also has extensive M&A experience, having integrated 20 acquisitions in a roll-up for NTL (now Virgin Media).

    Laura Sandys, CBE

    With an energy career spanning 30 years, Laura sits on the boards of SSE Transmission, Highview Power and OHME. She is also Chair of the Green Alliance and the Food Foundation.

  • Graham Brown

    Graham Brown

    After founding and running a technical services consulting business, Graham has served as Chairman and driven successful exits for a number of energy businesses. These include EV charging, wind power and consulting engineering businesses.

  • James Hall-Smith

    James Hall-Smith

    A founding partner of $14bn infrastructure fund manager InfraRed Capital Partners, James has over 25 years’ experience of investment, with the last 10 focused on the energy transition, including launching one of the UK’s largest investment funds for renewable energy.

  • Malcolm Hutton

    Malcolm Hutton

    Energy and environmental specialist with 5 decades’ experience in science, consulting and business-building. Part of the leadership at ERM for 15 years through ownership by multiple PE firms, during which he was involved in a number of acquisitions.

  • Steve Jennings

    Ex Head of PwC’s Energy & Utilities practice, Steve is an experienced energy expert and strategic advisor. He holds Senior Advisory and Non-Executive Director roles across the energy value chain including infrastructure, data services, consulting and technology.
